Presidential Ramblings

January 2013

Andrew Stevenson

It seems like we have fitted in an awful lot of activity since our last newsletter. I have had reports of a very successful annual pilgrimage to the Prom with a few new faces joining the regular crew. I don't know how I've managed to avoid it for so long but it's definitely on my "Must Do" list for next year. I did have the pleasure of accompanying 5 other club members on a ten day trip to Maria Island and Freycinet National Park in Tasmania. The scenery, wildlife and company were outstanding and I would urge all members to visit this part of the world if they haven't already done so. A special thanks to Norm Hall for organising the trip and making all of the enquiries and bookings. It's not many of our walks that start with an overnight ferry ride.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend our Christmas dinner in Heyfield as I was in Tassie but a goodly number of members had a wonderful time by all accounts. A big thanks to Brett and his staff for looking after everyone.

The committee won't be meeting in January but I look forward to catching up with you all on a walk soon as we convert the turkey and mince pies into fuel for the legs. Thanks to your committee for organising everything throughout the year and thanks to all of our walk leaders and participants. Season’s Greetings to you all.

See you on the track. Andrew.
